The roots of the bitcoin industry started as a new way of doing digital transactions via cryptocurrencies. Since then, blockchain tech along with its progeny has evolved. It is no longer just about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, nor even NFTs or the Metaverse as we look at it from a broad perspective. Instead, it is now seen as a disruptive, revolutionary technology that will have major impacts on multiple facets of our lives.
With bitcoins' exponential growth and far-reaching possibilities, there are rising concerns about its social and environmental impact. A few examples are the energy-intensive “mining” process, cybersecurity, the abuse of anonymity that it provides and so forth.
